The popularity of cycling is growing steadily in Hungary, and with the improvement of the cycle path network, more and more people are getting on the saddle. An EU-funded project has renewed the cycle path between Budapest and Szentendre to meet the increased demand for cycling.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The project was carried out on one of the most beautiful stretches of the Danube Bend, with the construction of 3,480 metres of cycle path and the upgrading of 1,280 metres of existing path. An additional 850 metres were designated as a safe area suitable for cyclists. The bicycle route between Budapest and Szentendre is part of EuroVelo 6 route, the European Cycle Route Network, which links the Atlantic Ocean with the Black Sea, allowing cyclists to plan longer trips.<\/p>\n

The most spectacular and complex structure of the project is the 36-metre-long bicycle bridge over the Dera stream on the border of Szentendre, which was designed to blend in with the surroundings. In addition to the new cycle path, the project included the renovation of rest areas and the creation of new ones. Furthermore, street lighting has been improved to allow cyclists to cycle safely after dark. These improvements to the comfort and safety of cycling will make the Danube Valley even more attractive for cyclists and increase the tourist attractiveness of the area.<\/p>\n

The good quality, wide and safe cycle paths allow cyclists to enjoy the beauty of the countryside in a pleasant and undisturbed environment.<\/p>\n
