Significant improvements have been made to the section of Route 55 near M\u00f3rahalom, supported by the European Union. The goal of the investment was to enhance traffic safety and promote sustainable, environmentally friendly transportation. These developments open new opportunities for local economic growth and community development.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As part of the project, 15.7 kilometers of road surface were reinforced to accommodate vehicles with axle loads of up to 115 kN. This road section runs between M\u00f3rahalom and the county border, where it connects to the previously renovated section between the junction leading to Kelebia and Tatah\u00e1za. Two intersections were also upgraded, now featuring at-grade turning lanes. A key element of the project was the construction of a service road network, equipped with wheel-cleaning areas to improve access to otherwise hard-to-reach properties. Several junctions were improved as well, including the addition of new left-turn lanes, resulting in smoother and safer traffic flow.<\/p>\n

The development involved major utility upgrades: communication and electrical lines were relocated, hydrocarbon pipelines were adjusted, a new sewage system was installed, and railway lines were either protected or rerouted as necessary.<\/p>\n

In addition, a 12.5-kilometre-long bicycle path was built parallel to the main road, completing the separated cycling route that enables safe cycling between Szeged and Baja. As a result of the completed works, the transportation infrastructure is now more efficient and secure, contributing to local economic development and indirectly boosting employment. The region\u2019s competitiveness is improving, territorial disparities are decreasing, and better accessibility enhances the overall quality of life for residents.<\/p>\nngg_shortcode_0_placeholder\n

The development was implemented from EU funding in the project IKOP-1.1.0-15-2016-00020 under the Integrated Transport Development Operational Programme.<\/p>\n
