<\/p>\nBKV Zrt. has carried out extensive energy efficiency upgrades at three of its Budapest sites \u2014 the Sz\u00e1va Depot, the Sz\u00e9pilona Depot, and the central office building on Ak\u00e1cfa Street \u2014 making the buildings more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. The project included installing modern heating systems, gas boilers, energy-saving radiators, as well as solar thermal collectors and photovoltaic panels to ensure more cost-effective and sustainable operation in the long run.<\/p>\n
At the Sz\u00e1va Depot, four of the eight buildings were renovated. The old heating systems were replaced with modern condensing gas boilers, and the hall is now heated by 23 new thermoventilators, which are not only more efficient but also much quieter. Separate heating centers were installed for the office and operations management buildings, allowing for more precise temperature control. Solar collectors were also added to the roof of the social building to help with hot water production, offering both economic and environmental benefits.<\/p>\n
At the Sz\u00e9pilona Depot, three buildings underwent modernization. New energy-efficient boilers were installed, and thermostatic valves were fitted to the radiators, enabling better temperature regulation. The hall\u2019s heating was upgraded with quiet thermoventilators replacing the old units. Twelve solar collectors were installed on the boiler house\u2019s flat roof to support hot water production and reduce gas consumption.<\/p>\n
At the central office building on Ak\u00e1cfa Street, a solar panel system was installed. Two hundred and twenty photovoltaic panels were mounted on the roof, generating around 64,600 kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. Although the building\u2019s total energy use is much higher, this system still represents significant savings, with some of the generated electricity fed back into the grid.<\/p>\n
These upgrades mark an important step towards sustainability. BKV Zrt. is not only improving its own efficiency but also setting an example for how public services can operate in an energy-conscious and environmentally responsible way. The improvements will reduce costs over time, lower harmful emissions, and contribute to a greener, more livable Budapest.<\/p>\n
