Mathematics can be a challenge for many students, yet a solid foundation in basic skills is essential for learning a trade and building a successful future. Recognising this, the Székesfehérvár Vocational Training Centre is launching a new support programme with funding from the Economic Development and Innovation Operational Programme Plus (EDIOP Plus). Involving ten member schools, the initiative will help young people overcome learning difficulties and successfully complete their vocational training through personalised learning pathways and digital solutions.
The programme focuses on developing mathematical and logical thinking skills. Initial assessments have shown that gaps in these areas can make it harder for students to understand and master vocational subjects. Rather than simply helping students catch up with their coursework, the programme therefore takes a broader approach, strengthening concentration, memory, reading comprehension, problem-solving abilities and effective learning strategies.
Between February 2026 and August 2028, a total of 410 students are expected to take part in 82 small-group learning sessions. Teachers will tailor activities to individual needs, while digital tools and artificial intelligence will make challenging topics easier to understand through personalised exercises, visual explanations and immediate feedback. The aim is to help students gradually replace past frustrations with a sense of achievement and renewed confidence in their ability to learn.
However, academic progress also depends on having the right support in place. The project will therefore include a dedicated team focused on reducing educational disadvantages, alongside a group of learning support specialists. Psychologists, mental health professionals and career guidance experts will work together to help students overcome learning difficulties, strengthen their motivation and make informed decisions about their future.
| The project has received HUF 330.7 million in non-repayable European Union funding under EDIOP Plus. Entitled “Vocational Training Disadvantage Compensation Programmes and Flexible Learning Pathways”, this strategically important Pillar Project plays a key role in achieving development policy objectives, ensuring the successful implementation of the operational programme and supporting the effective and transparent use of EU funds. |
Covering ten institutions across the districts of Székesfehérvár, Mór and Bicske, the initiative aims to achieve much more than better grades. By reducing educational disadvantages and preventing students from dropping out, it will also help improve their long-term prospects. Stronger basic skills will make it easier for young people to prepare for vocational examinations and increase their chances of finding employment in the future. Through this Pillar Project, students will receive the support they need to gain a qualification, build confidence in their abilities and take meaningful steps towards an independent future.
