Some improvements don’t stand out because of their size, yet they quietly make everyday life better. In a kindergarten, brighter rooms, safer entrances, and modern play areas can make a real difference for children, parents, and staff alike.
The renovation of Gombácska Kindergarten in Marcali aimed to create a safer, more modern environment that better meets the town’s current needs, while also helping to reduce regional disparities in access to early childhood education.
The building had become outdated in several respects. Its cramped interiors, aging heating system, worn windows and doors, and outdated sanitary facilities all made renovation necessary.
With support from the European Union, the kindergarten underwent a comprehensive upgrade. The heating system was modernized, new windows and doors were installed, washrooms were renovated, and the interior layout was redesigned. As a result, the group rooms are now more comfortable, practical, and welcoming.
Accessibility was also a key priority. A new accessible entrance and restroom facilities were added, ensuring the building can be used by everyone.
The project also included upgrading equipment. New digital learning tools were introduced to support children’s development through play. The outdoor areas, including the yard and playground, were also renewed, creating a more enjoyable space for activities.
Sustainability played an important role as well. Alongside energy-efficiency improvements, a solar panel system was installed to help reduce operating costs over the long term.
Today, the renewed Gombácska Kindergarten offers a modern, child-friendly environment, providing a fitting setting for the everyday lives of the next generation.
