A family-friendly, modern daycare operates in Keszü

2025. 01. 27.

The village of Keszü, located in Baranya County, welcomes children under three years old with a new nursery. The development has made it possible to provide daytime care for the little ones, thereby supporting the return to work of the affected parents and mothers.

The project, which was funded by the EU and the national government as part of the Territorial and Settlement Development Operational Programme, led to the construction of three nursery classrooms with associated children’s toilets and changing rooms in the facility, which now has 38 new places. The development was done by converting and extending an existing municipal building that’s easy to get to. On the ground floor, there’s also a separate nursery room, a gym with a sports room, a speech therapy room, and a disabled toilet. You can get to the attic via a staircase leading up to it, where there are changing rooms and staff rooms.

A new kitchen is attached to the building but separate from it, allowing cooking to be done for 50 people on site, according to the needs of the age group. There are 8 car parking spaces in the courtyard. Access to these and to the ground floor premises are all accessible and usable.

The flexible opening hours are a great relief for the families concerned. In total, six early childhood educators in the three groups, assisted by two nursery teachers, have been working with the young children. The opening of the nursery has created 13 new jobs.

In addition to day-care, i.e. the care, education and upbringing of children under the age of three, and the promotion of their physical and mental development, the aim of the new institution is to provide services to support family education, and to care for disadvantaged and multiply disadvantaged children, as well as children with disabilities and special educational needs. They consider it an important task to promote the development of these children in a fully integrated way within the framework of the crèche.

The development was implemented from EU funding in the project TOP-1.4.1-19-BA1-2019-00011 under the Territorial and Settlement Development Operational Programme.
