There are a significant number of people with reduced mobility all over the world and in Hungary as well, according to the 2022 census data, their number exceeds 110,000. Some of these people live their lives in wheelchairs, significantly deprived of the feeling of freedom given by movement, but there are tools that can alleviate the limitation. Such a device is the Gyroset Guide smart tool developed by NowTechnologies Ltd.
The idea to develop this product comes from one of the founders of NowTechnologies Ltd., Márton Juhász, who worked next to the Rehabilitation Center for People with Disabilities and faced every day the problems of those people. Seeing the solutions currently available, he concluded that using the technologies of the present age, a more modern and humane solution could be provided to users. This solution became the Gyroset Guide.
The Gyroset Guide helps people with reduced mobility to control their electric wheelchair with a small headset that can be attached to their head. This 21st century technology makes life much easier for users compared to the control of a traditional electric wheelchair, furthermore, allows much freer mobility, thus significantly improving the quality of life for people who have to use a wheelchair.
NowTechnologies Ltd., the developer of this device, has been able to further improve its products to make them even more efficient thanks to the EU funding under the Competitive Central Hungary Operational Programme (VEKOP).
The result of this development is a prototype of the new, improved version of the GyroSet Guide wheelchair controller, fine-tuned based on previous user feedback, and the GyroSet Glory headset that enables head control. The head control, which acts as a special controller, is connected to the system as standard, with no need to purchase separate modules to operate it. The controller is modular, for which the company has developed its own input devices, so that the headset can be used to control the user’s electric wheelchair without any obstacles.
The headset is unique as it can control computers and wheelchairs in the same solution. A separate computer application has been developed to access the functions of the PC mouse, so that the device can be used to move the computer mouse from the wheelchair.

GyroSet Glory is a user-friendly device that everyone can learn to use after a short introductory training course, making it a product that can improve the quality of life for a wide range of people with disabilities.
The development was implemented from EU funding in the project VEKOP-2.1.7-15-2016-00357 under the Competitive Central Hungary Operational Programme.
