On 14 November 2025, the National Development Centre (NFK) held its first conference dedicated entirely to the communication of the Pillars. This made the event a milestone from the outset. The Pillars — the flagship development areas of the 2021–2027 EU funding cycle — play an increasingly important role in presenting Hungary’s achievements and highlighting the social relevance of the operational programmes in an accessible and visually engaging way.
The initiative was significant even at EU Member State level: never before had so many development policy experts gathered at the same time to discuss communication strategies for the Pillars. Specialists from the European Commission also took an active role in the discussions. The almost 200 participants who joined online showed just how strong the interest is in this topic.
Speakers from both the National Development Centre and beneficiary organisations delivered a wide variety of presentations. Participants learned about national and international best practices, received practical guidance to help them meet the Pillar communication requirements more easily, and gained insight into the real-life implementation of several Pillar projects.
The conference not only showcased the diversity of communication approaches used within the Pillars, but also laid the groundwork for professional cooperation that will, in the years ahead, further strengthen the visibility of Hungary’s development policy — building a bridge between projects and the public.
