Glass That Shapes the City: The Growth of Orosházaglas

2026. 04. 10.

Stadiums, office buildings, vehicles — the striking glass surfaces that surround us every day are the result of serious industrial expertise. Orosházaglas has completed a major project that not only significantly increased its production capacity, but also further strengthened its position in international markets.

Supported by EU funding, the investment opened up new possibilities in manufacturing. As a result, tempered glass output rose substantially, laminated glass production more than tripled, and the company gained the ability to produce large-format glass products that meet top international standards.

Founded in 1995, Orosházaglas is a Hungarian-owned company that has become one of the leading players in Hungary’s flat-glass processing industry. Its products serve three main areas: architectural glazing, automotive applications, and a range of other technical solutions. Its reference projects include major developments such as the stadium in Debrecen and Groupama Arena, while most of its automotive glass products are sold in export markets.

To support higher-volume, more advanced production, the company had to create a highly specialized manufacturing environment. The processes take place in dust-free, climate-controlled areas where temperature and humidity are kept constant. Glass assembly is carried out in separate enclosed spaces, eliminating even the smallest contamination — an essential condition for achieving premium quality. As part of the project, the company installed a CNC machining center, a laminating unit, a large-format tempering furnace, a logistics system to support the equipment, and material-sorting stations. New crane runways and overhead cranes now make it possible to handle large glass sheets weighing several tons, while the power infrastructure was also upgraded to serve the new machinery. With these new technologies in place, production has become not only faster, but more efficient as well.

The investment was driven by growing market demand. Alongside the recovery of Hungary’s construction sector, the company also expanded its export activity, particularly toward the Nordic countries. At the same time, Orosházaglas has remained active in research and development: its proprietary technologies and industry partnerships enable it to produce new, high value-added glass products that are increasingly sought after on international markets. The expansion provided the capacity and technological standard needed to support this growth, while also creating a solid foundation for continued development and a stronger international presence.
