The developments realized in the project called the Integrated Legislation System (ILS) provide lawmakers with faster and simpler decision preparation, reduce administrative burdens for public administration, and deliver higher-quality services to citizens.
The ILS project, funded by the European Union, encompasses a wide range of improvements. The Integrated Legislation System itself ensures a higher level of support for the quality legislative process and provides unified and exclusive IT support for governmental decision preparation and decision-making processes, as well as certain related authority activities.
Within the project, an intelligent legal document search system was also created, accessible through the National Legislation Database website and its mobile application. This system not only enhances the efficiency of governmental decision preparation but also promotes citizens’ compliance with laws by making the rules easier to access and understand. Through the National Legislation Database mobile app, citizens can easily obtain up-to-date information for handling their affairs, while businesses receive free assistance for their day-to-day economic activities. The freely available app allows users to quickly find legal texts through a clear and functional interface.
For example, if you were curious about a traffic regulation while walking down the street, you could access the relevant rule in moments. The app includes a feature that lists the most commonly searched laws (such as the Civil Code, Criminal Code, VAT Act, traffic regulations, etc.) in alphabetical order by abbreviation. It is also easy to search if you know the number and type of the legislation you are looking for, or you can find the desired text using keywords. The word search function allows you to look for words occurring within the legal texts, and once a law is displayed, you can further search within it by text or paragraph.
Basic functions of the mobile app are available without registration, but to access the full range of services and convenience features, registration is required. One particularly exciting feature of the app is that—after filling out a questionnaire—it can recommend personalized legislation viewing tailored to your specific life situation. You can also set up notifications about changes, ensuring you stay up to date on the legal environment relevant to you, receiving updates via email or push notifications according to your preference. Additionally, you can view the current issues of the Hungarian Official Gazette, keeping you informed about the latest laws and recent legislative changes.
The development was implemented from EU funding in the project KÖFOP-1.0.0-VEKOP-15-2016-00029 under the Public Administration and Public Service Development Operational Programme.
