With the support of the Territorial and Settlement Development Operational Programme Plus (TSDOP Plus) and the Hungarian state, significant infrastructural developments are underway in the Szolnok Microregion. These include the construction of roads, the establishment of an industrial park, and the expansion of sports facilities.

In Kőtelek, approximately HUF 265 million will be allocated to the development of an industrial area, which is expected to stimulate the local economy. In Tiszajenő, HUF 330 million will be invested in the renewal of the community space, which will enhance the social and cultural infrastructure of the town. In Rákócziújfalu, HUF 180 million will be used for the renovation of inner-town roads, while in Besenyszög, the expansion of the general school’s gymnasium will commence, backed by a HUF 500 million support.

Szolnok, which was first mentioned in historical records in 1075, will receive approximately HUF 300 million in connection with its 950th anniversary celebrations. The support will be used for local cultural and community development programs. Furthermore, the city had previously advanced funding for the Munkácsy Street medical office, and an additional HUF 380 million is now available to supplement this investment. Szolnok and the surrounding small towns operate in symbiosis, with both cities and villages playing key roles, thus providing an opportunity for all ideas to be realized.

The regulatory framework for the 2021–2027 programming period introduced a new category for EU-wide programs, known as “operations of strategic importance” which are commonly referred to as Pillars. The purpose of the Pillars is to highlight key, emblematic initiatives and emphasize their contribution to cohesion policy, thus bringing the European Union and its programs closer to the citizens. Two significant actions under the TSDOP Plus program are Sustainable Urban Development and the Development of Public Education Infrastructure, within which the aforementioned projects will be implemented.
