One of Hungary’s favorite biscuit brands reaches a new level

2025. 10. 27.

Detki is the largest Hungarian-owned biscuit and confectionery manufacturer, with products found in almost every household in the country. The company has been active on the market for more than 40 years and recently, with the help of EU funding, introduced major technological upgrades to boost production.

By continuously improving, Detki has strengthened its position in Hungary and, with more efficient production, is delivering even more treats to families nationwide.

The story of Detki Biscuits began in 1983, when three state-owned food companies – the Hungarian Confectionery Company, the Heves County Bakery Company, and the Detk Cooperative – came together to establish the business. Production started with just 500 tons of biscuits per year. In 1992, the company became a limited liability company (Kft.) and has remained in Hungarian family ownership ever since. Its mission is to offer both traditional favorites – such as Mese honey biscuits and Tere-fere – as well as exciting new products, always with high quality at affordable prices. Today, Detki produces over 10,000 tons of biscuits, shortbreads, and crispy snacks every year. The “Detki” brand has become a symbol of reliable quality and family snacking in Hungary. Their products have also won the prestigious Excellent Hungarian Food Award several times.

The company’s latest project focused on boosting competitiveness and expanding market share. At its Halmajugra site, Detki installed a modern cartoning machine, filling and dosing equipment, and a new packaging line, making both primary and secondary packaging fully automated. Outdated machinery was also replaced, including the introduction of a new three-zone tunnel oven. Thanks to these developments, Detki can now serve the Hungarian market more efficiently and at an even higher quality.
