Due to the high demand in previous years, support for training programs in Hungarian enterprises will continue. Starting in March 2025, an additional HUF 15 billion in EU funding will be made available to Hungarian businesses under the Economic Development and Innovation Operational Programme Plus to finance workforce training aimed at improving productivity.
The operations of strategic importance (OSI) of the 2021–2027 programming period, also referred to as Pillars for easier understanding, aim to enhance the visibility of EU-funded initiatives, showcasing their results to the public. One of the key Pillars of Economic Development and Innovation Operational Programme Plus focuses on improving the adaptability and productivity of employees and companies through workforce development. The program, launched in 2021, is managed by the Ministry of National Economy and the Ministry of Culture and Innovation, in collaboration with the relevant regional government offices.
To maintain the competitiveness of the Hungarian workforce, it is essential that employees can flexibly adapt to structural changes, technological advancements, and digitalization. The project, with a total budget of HUF 70 billion, supports employee skill development and training in cooperation with adult education institutions. In the first three phases of the program, over HUF 23 billion in funding was awarded, out of which HUF 13 billion was used by Hungarian businesses to cover employee training costs. The fourth phase of the program introduces several new improvements, including an expanded list of eligible applicants, increased reimbursable training fees per hour, and a raise in the maximum support amount for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from HUF 75 million to HUF 100 million.
