Renewed vocational training center for automotive professionals in Tolna

2024. 11. 29.

Thanks to the European Union project, the Tolna County Vocational Training Center has become one of the most modern training centers in the Southern Transdanubia region. Through the new technologies and training methods, students were able to acquire competitive knowledge that can be directly applied in the workplace. The developments not only offered advantages to the students but also contributed to the long-term economic growth of the region, as the retention of skilled professionals strengthens the local industry and service sector.

The Economic Development and Innovation Operational Programme (GINOP)-6.2.7-20 call for proposal was implemented as part of the Széchenyi 2020 program, aiming to support the infrastructural and professional development of sectoral training centers. The application provided an opportunity to prepare for the new vocational training structure, with particular emphasis on creating a modern educational environment and developing curriculum. The grant was available to educational and vocational training institutions so that they could offer competitive training programs. Most of the affected projects were implemented in line with the needs of industry and the economy, aiming to facilitate a smooth entry into the labor market.

In a project coordinated by the Tolna County Vocational Training Center, an old workshop at the Ady Endre Technical School was transformed, creating a modern and safe training space necessary for the practical education of professions related to specialised machine and vehicle manufacturing. The investment was financed with non-repayable EU grants. The development also involved infrastructure investment and equipment procurement.

In the early 1980s, the training workshop, built with the technical standards of the time, underwent a complete modernisation: the room received a new, slip-resistant floor for the safety of the students and the instructors working there. A modern ventilation system was installed, and the entire electrical and lighting network of the workshop was renovated. A suspended ceiling was installed, the walls were painted, and the external glass surfaces were shaded.

In connection with practical training, they also acquired work tools, furniture, and IT equipment. The training workshop has been equipped with the most modern machines and tools.  Instead of a four-column scissor lift, a scissor lift for undercarriage adjustment was installed in the floor, and diagnostic systems for electric and internal combustion engines were installed.

The renovated workshop allows students to master the diagnostic and repair technologies used in the automotive industry in a modern environment, including knowledge related to electric and hybrid vehicles.

The Tolna County Vocational Training Center collaborated with numerous companies during the development of the training program. The companies provided internship positions for the students, thus directly contributing to the students’ preparation for the job market.
