In the city of Szeged, 20 young children can start daycare activities in a new, modern, and energy-efficient facility. The development provides the opportunity for daytime care for the little ones, thereby supporting the return to work of the affected parents and mothers.
The city’s local government has established a daycare center that, in line with modern expectations, is not only accessibble for disabled children but also economically sustainable thanks to energy modernisation. The institution has been equipped with 6 children’s rooms, each measuring 50 square meters, and new changing rooms, restrooms, and storage rooms have also been established. The building features two accessible restrooms and two stroller storage areas as well.
The nursery’s main building, which covers an area of 1544 m2, is accompanied by an additional structure with an area of 46 m2, where the outdoor children’s restrooms are located, and where toys can also be stored. Play areas, covered and open terraces have been built around the buildings. The landscaped green area exceeds 2200 m2. Next to the main entrance, a storage area for 20 bicycles has been created. On the public area in front of the building, 16 accessible parking spaces has also been established.
To implement energy modernisation, 6 air-to-water heat pumps provide the energy needed for heating and cooling. The building has underfloor and ceiling heating installed, and all kitchen appliances are electrically operated, so there was no need for a gas connection. The building’s electrical energy needs are mostly met by the solar panel system installed on the roof. The lighting is provided by LED lights, and there is also an IT, camera, and intrusion detection system operating in the institution.
Thanks to the development, the institution has expanded by 20 new places and also created 5 new positions. The new nursery is also suitable for accommodating children with special educational needs.
