Tens of thousands nationwide gain opportunities in the labor market

2025. 08. 28.

Thanks to EU support, more and more people can study, develop their skills, and successfully find employment.

The Youth Guarantee Plus Pillar project, implemented under the EU co-financed Economic Development and Innovation Operational Programme Plus, aims to help young people aged 15–29 who are not studying or working to gain jobs, work experience, or marketable skills. By 2027, the program will offer tailored support to around 40,000 participants, helping them spend as little time as possible in unemployment or inactivity.

In recent months, tens of thousands of young people in Tolna, Somogy, and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg counties have already taken advantage of the opportunity, with many successfully entering the labor market.

This summer, the project was also presented in Komárom-Esztergom County: visitors to the MCC Festival could learn more about the program at the EDU Promenade, where career guidance, youth counseling, skills assessment, CV writing, and interview preparation were available. Nearly 50,000 people attended the festival, making it an excellent opportunity to reach and engage young people. The Youth Guarantee Plus program is funded by HUF 102 billion nationwide, including HUF 1.78 billion in Komárom-Esztergom County, from non-repayable EU resources.

The success of EDIOP Plus projects is visible in other parts of the country as well: in Zala County, a wide range of training and qualification opportunities remain available in 2025. Here, the Youth Guarantee Plus has a budget of HUF 1.87 billion, while the Expanding and Developing the Labor Supply Pillar project is supported by HUF 78.41 billion nationwide, including HUF 2.217 billion in Zala County, targeting people over 30.

This latter project recently received a significant boost, with its budget increasing by nearly HUF 100 billion, bringing the total EU funding to HUF 175.67 billion. As a result, more than 17,000 people have already found employment, nearly 8,000 have started new training, and by 2029 it is expected to open opportunities for over 83,000 jobseekers — most of them disadvantaged — helping them build a more stable future.

The Economic Development and Innovation Operational Programme Plus projects support both young entrants to the labor market and those over 30, thereby strengthening the workforce and trust in the future. At the same time, the Pillar projects of the operational program also deliver on several of Economic Development and Innovation Operational Programme Plus’s key objectives, clearly demonstrating the positive impact of EU funding across the country.
