Digital tools are now an essential part of modern education, but their everyday use can place significant demands on school electrical networks. To ensure a safe and reliable power supply, the electrical systems were upgraded in ten buildings belonging to six institutions managed by the Berettyóújfalu School District Centre.

The development covered the Petőfi Street building and two buildings on Templom Street of Furtai Bessenyei György Primary School, as well as the Erzsébet Street site and two locations on Kossuth Street of Jókai Mór Primary School in Sárrétudvari. The electrical networks were also modernised at Kálvin Square Primary School in Püspökladány and at the Hencida site of Irinyi Károly Primary School. The project also included the Main Street 96 building of Barsi Dénes Primary School in Komádi and the Kossuth Street site of Csökmői Bocskai István Primary School and Basic Art School.

At some of the schools, the electrical systems had not undergone major upgrades for nearly forty years. Networks originally designed for much lower levels of electricity use gradually had to support a growing number of computers, digital devices and other equipment. Modernisation was therefore necessary to bring the schools’ technical infrastructure in line with the needs of present-day education.

As part of the project, the buildings’ electrical systems were comprehensively upgraded. Distribution boards, cable routes and protective conduits were renewed, while new wiring, lighting fixtures, switches and power sockets were installed. The available electrical capacity was also reviewed, existing meter cabinets were brought up to current standards, and walls affected by the works were repaired and repainted.

Accessibility was also considered during the modernisation. Switches and power sockets were positioned and designed to make them easier to use for people with disabilities.

Thanks to the improvements, the electrical networks of the schools now operate more safely and reliably. The upgraded systems provide a secure foundation for everyday lighting and the use of computers and other digital equipment, helping teaching and learning activities run smoothly.

The development was implemented from EU funding in the project EFOP-4.1.12-22-2023-00046 under the Human Resource Development Operational Programme.
