For years, teachers at Szent László Primary School in Baja had been working with limited classroom space. The existing rooms were not always large enough for regular lessons, smaller group sessions or individual support. The completion of the new school wing has changed this, providing additional modern classrooms, group rooms and dedicated spaces for individual development.
Located in the centre of Baja, at the junction of Tóth Kálmán Street, Katona József Street and Hattyú Street, the school was expanded as part of an EU-funded project. The new three-storey wing covers nearly 1,000 square metres and contains six classrooms. It is connected to the main building by an enclosed walkway.
The development has transformed everyday life at the school. A spacious entrance hall was created on the ground floor, while each floor now has two new classrooms. Additional rooms for small-group teaching, offices and service areas also support the school’s daily activities. Solar panels were installed on the roof, and a modern heat pump system provides energy-efficient heating.
The outdoor sports area was also completely renovated. It now includes an outdoor fitness park, a multi-lane running track and a multi-purpose sports court with a durable rubber surface. Weather permitting, pupils can take part in a wide range of activities, including five-a-side football, handball, basketball, floorball and tennis.
The new classrooms were designed to meet the needs of today’s pupils. They provide a brighter, more comfortable and welcoming environment that supports student-centred learning. Every classroom is equipped with an interactive whiteboard, enabling teachers to use visual content, interactive exercises and modern teaching methods more effectively.
Overall, the investment has enabled the school to deliver its educational programme in significantly better conditions, creating a more practical and inspiring environment for both pupils and teachers.
