With the help of EU funding, a fully equipped kindergarten and nursery were built in Polgárdi, Fejér County. With this, the city has established temporary daytime care in nurseries, modernised the provision of preschool services, and facilitated women’s return to the labor market.
The new kindergarten and nursery building has created a true wonderland for children, where the possibilities for space, play, and development have reached 21st-century standards. The building complex, which stands on a nearly one-hectare plot and has a gross area of 2,178 square meters, was based on an old barrack, which was renovated and expanded. The existing two-story building was expanded with a single-story section that can be used independently from the kindergarten, where the gym and the multipurpose hall were placed. Furthermore, in another direction, a single-story nursery building containing different rooms was created.
The new complex – replacing the two existing service locations – includes a kindergarten with 200 places and 8 group rooms, as well as a nursery with 24 places and 2 group rooms. Not only have the number of places increased, but the opportunities as well: a gym and larger, multi-purpose rooms are also waiting for the little ones, where special education and community activities can be held. The special rooms and available tools in the new building make it possible to apply kindergarten methods of teaching that meet the 21st century’s requirements, thus improving the physical conditions and quality of kindergarten tasks. A medical room and a dining room were also added to the modernised building, and a ramp helps disabled people to overcome the level differences.
With the implementation of the project, the relief of the county seat has also begun, and the project will also greatly facilitate the elimination of the differences experienced in the care of young children in Székesfehérvár and its agglomeration. Moreover, to ensure the expansion and operation of basic nursery care, as well as the initiation of temporary daytime child care, the institution has increased its staff by 6 members.
The development was implemented from EU funding in the project TOP-1.4.1-15-FE1-2018-00051 under the Territorial and Settlement Development Operational Programme.
