New opportunities for the little ones – a mini nursery opens in Sümegprága

2025. 11. 28.

Creating a nursery is a major milestone in the life of a small community. For young children, it opens the door to a world filled with play, laughter, and small adventures. For parents, it offers the chance to return to work. It also makes the village more appealing to young families, contributing to long-term renewal and growth.

With these goals in mind, the Municipality of Sümegprága has established a mini nursery with support from the European Union. The existing Sümegprága “Golden Apple” Kindergarten was expanded with a new 167 m² wing. The extension includes an accessible entrance, a lobby, a group room, care and service areas, and a dedicated nursery playground separated from the kindergarten yard.

Children attending the nursery are welcomed into a calm, friendly, family-like environment. Gross motor skills are encouraged through ride-on toys, balls, tunnels, funnels, and swings, while puzzles and stacking toys help develop fine motor skills. The selection of construction toys includes soft foam blocks as well as plastic and wooden building bricks.

The nursery also features a warming kitchen, allowing staff to accommodate special dietary requirements, such as food intolerances.

The mini nursery welcomes children from 8 months of age. It primarily serves families from Sümegprága and Bazsi, and—when space permits—also accepts children from Sümeg.

This development makes everyday life easier and more carefree for both parents and their little ones, while strengthening the community in the long run.
