Artificial intelligence helps in public administration and administration

2023. 12. 19.

At more than four hundred locations throughout the country Artificial Intelligence Assistant (MIA) Points are available, and on their touch-screen devices, we can easily and quickly handle various types of cases electronically, without administrative intervention or queuing.

With the support of the Széchenyi 2020’s Public Service and Public Administration Development Operational Programme, a hybrid platform, which also unique on European level, was created, forming a bridge between personal and electronic administrative spaces.

In the recent period, significant progress has been achieved in the practical utilization of artificial intelligence and advanced technologies. World-class products were used in the pilot project launched by the Interior Ministry, and based on the experience gained in this way, an IT environment was created based on purely Hungarian, predominantly state-developed softwares. In the pilot phase, the establishment of the KIOSZK made it possible to manage two types of administrative cases without personal contact: obtaining certificate of good conduct and the replacement of the driver’s license.

As a result of the recent development, an additional twelve case types were added to the system. Self-service terminals similar to bank machines can be used to replace, for example, driver’s licenses and identity cards, but birth certificates and moral certificates can also be requested.

In the development, four hundred KIOSZK devices were put into operation in government offices, document offices, post offices and Digital Welfare Program Points. The touch-screen devices of the MIA Points located at more than four hundred locations throughout the country allow for quick and easy administration, without administrative intervention or waiting in line.

The project – in accordance with the intentions of the Interior Ministry and the Hungarian government – contributes to increasing the efficiency of public administration and public services, and to the operation of a customer and service-oriented state.

The program was implemented with European Union funding in the KÖFOP-1.0.0-VEKOP-15-2020-00058 project under the Public Administration and Civil Service Development Operational Programme and the Competitive Central Hungary Operational Programme.
