The unique brewery successfully developed and retained its workplaces despite the impacts of the Corona virus partly thanks to technological developments implemented from EU and state funding.
The results of The Mad Scientist domestic small-scale brewery between 2015 and 2022 speak for themselves. Today the company exports its „mad” beers to 25 countries. The company’s figures are impressive: annual sales rose from 1 million HUF in 2015 to 378 million by 2019 and reached 767 million HUF in 2022. Profit after taxes in 2020 exceeded 100 million HUF and by 2022 was more than 143 million.
The fact that the company could properly respond to the challenges of the Covid pandemic also contributed to its success. Due to support from EU and national funding, the company implemented technological developments in order to mitigate the economic impacts of the pandemic. The semi-automatic can de-palletiser, brewing tank, cold water tank and semi-automatic keg filler purchased during the project, facilitated the retention of their market position, improving product quality and increasing productivity thereby decreasing the negative effects of the market environment.
As a result of the investments, Mad Scientist kept its workplaces and also implemented wage increases and product improvements. The brewery team works with professional precision and creativity in order to continually create new and exciting recipes. Their repertoire includes alternative fermented beers (MadX), mead produced from domestic ingredients (Mead Scientist) and barrel-aged beers (Barrel Project).
