A cherished tradition has been revived in Karcag. The language camp, which has long been one of the most popular local initiatives at Györffy István Catholic Primary School, was once again made possible through an EU co-funded project.
The Territorial and Settlement Development Operational Programme supported, among other initiatives, developments that provided the opportunity to organize community programs aimed at contributing to the long-term improvement of the local quality of life.
The language camp has become a multifaceted, community-building, and educational event that blends language learning, communal experiences, and personal growth. The program focused on the English language, giving the children the chance to explore various language learning methods in a fun and engaging way, while also enhancing their communication skills, boosting their self-confidence, and fostering a greater openness to different cultures.
Györffy István Catholic Primary School, together with its affiliated foundation, has organized numerous successful camps and events, consistently placing a strong emphasis on supporting language education. They are committed to providing students with experiences that extend beyond the traditional classroom. The language camp was organized with this same philosophy. Its primary goal was to highlight the importance of language learning and demonstrate how foreign languages can serve as a key to understanding the world better, expressing oneself, and achieving future success.
The event took place at an external location with the participation of fifty people. The children were accompanied by qualified educators and camp leaders, and the activities not only focused on developing language skills but also provided excellent opportunities for learning the principles of community living and promoting independence.
As part of the project, equipment was purchased to modernize the school’s language laboratory, and several additional events were organized to support both education and community experiences, such as English academic competitions. These project components contributed to the sustainability of the outcomes, where complex community-building and knowledge-enhancing activities have become an integral part of school life. The school has taken a significant step towards a future where learning is an experience, community is a source of strength, and language skills open the door to a broader world.
The development was implemented from EU funding in the project TOP-7.1.1-16-H-ESZA-2020-02055 under the Territorial and Settlement Development Operational Programme.
