Modern school buildings not only create a healthier and more inspiring learning environment for future generations but also contribute to improving the quality of life within communities. The modern technologies and innovative solutions applied in such developments help reduce the ecological footprint of buildings while promoting environmental awareness among students and educators.
The energy modernization of the buildings of the II. János Pál Catholic Primary School in Ózd and the Szent István Catholic Primary School in Felsőzsolca has been completed. The development affected school buildings owned by local municipalities but managed by the Diocese of Eger, and was carried out within the framework of the Environmental and Energy Efficiency Operational Program (EEEOP) using European Union funds. The aim of the investment was to ensure that the institutions comply with current energy and environmental regulations and can operate more sustainably in the long term.
During the project, external thermal insulation was added to the buildings, roof insulation was improved, external doors and windows were replaced and modernized, heating systems were upgraded, and solar panel systems were installed.
As a result of the investment, both institutions have significantly reduced their energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. This not only lowers operational costs but also contributes to the financial stability of the schools. The modernization also improves the infrastructural conditions of education: students can learn in a more modern, energy-efficient, and aesthetically renewed environment. Indirectly, the development also contributes to the improvement of the cityscape and the well-being and quality of life of local residents. Thus, energy modernization goes beyond the walls of the buildings and plays an important role in social responsibility.
The development was implemented from EU funding in the project KEHOP-5.2.3-16-2016-00050 under the Environmental and Energy Efficiency Operational Programme.
