More and better spaces for little ones in Algyő

2025. 08. 22.

Great news for families with young children in Algyő: the Bóbita Nursery has not only become more beautiful—it’s now bigger too! With this expansion, more toddlers can benefit from modern childcare services, providing tremendous support to local parents.

Like many growing communities, the town of Algyő recently faced a shortage of nursery spaces. Nearly 10% population growth—driven largely by young families either moving in with small children or planning to start a family—made the need for expanded childcare infrastructure pressing. To address this, the municipality successfully secured EU funding to replace the fully occupied Bóbita Nursery with a new, larger facility offering 60 childcare places.

The project was implemented with support from the Széchenyi 2020 Territorial and Settlement Development Operational Programme and the Ministry of Finance’s 2018 Nursery Development Programme, with technical and budgetary separation between the two funding streams.

Thanks to the EU funding, two new group rooms were created, adding 24 additional places. The facility now includes a changing and waiting area, accessible bathroom, kitchen, mechanical and storage rooms, and dedicated storage for toys and garden tools. Outdoors, children can enjoy a sandbox, slide, climbing equipment to support motor skills development, and a warm-water splash pad. Sixteen new parking spaces make drop-off and pick-up easier for parents. Notably, the expansion also created several new jobs.

The project helps reduce regional disparities in access to nursery care, promoting equal opportunities. It ensures a healthy, modern environment for young children, with everything they need to thrive. And by providing daytime care, it supports parents—especially mothers—in returning to the workforce sooner.

The happy little residents of the Bóbita Nursery have already moved into their new home!
