As the saying goes, “when something takes off, it really takes off.” And in Bács-Kiskun County, development is certainly taking off. Under the Territorial and Settlement Development Operational Programme Plus, seventeen municipalities will have the opportunity to implement their plans using approximately HUF 2.05 billion in European Union funding. These programs aim to improve quality of life, enhance social cohesion, and strengthen intergenerational cooperation.

Both small and large municipalities will benefit from the funding. In Kunszentmiklós, HUF 114 million will be used to launch community programs for the elderly, focusing on slowing the progression of dementia. Meanwhile, children and young people will have access to career counseling, skills development training, and holiday activities. In addition, healthcare services will be expanded, and cycling as a mode of transportation will be promoted.

In Kiskunhalas, part of the HUF 344 million will be allocated to the Learning center “Tanoda” program, which supports the academic progress of disadvantaged children. Another portion will fund training programs for young entrepreneurs to strengthen the local economy. Tiszakécske, Tiszaug, and Szentkirály will invest nearly HUF 191 million in open family events, programs for children and the elderly, as well as health days and medical screenings. In Tass, local history programs, traditional events, and children’s holiday activities will help build intergenerational connections, preserve cultural heritage, and strengthen community life.

In Kalocsa, youth programs will take center stage. HUF 190 million awarded will help organize the Youth Role Models Gala, which recognizes young people with outstanding achievements. Additionally, health days and cycling camps will be held. Kiskunfélegyháza will use its HUF 347 million to focus on health awareness and drug prevention.

In the municipalities of Dunapataj, Akasztó, Harta, Solt, and Dunatetétlen, programs will be organized for the elderly, women’s health, and crime prevention. For children, nearly HUF 198 million will fund handball camps, sports activities, and traffic safety education. In Kiskőrös, HUF 200 million will be allocated to improving digital skills for the elderly, while also supporting awareness programs and community events.

The goal of these diverse development initiatives is to provide better living conditions for all generations, strengthen communities, and promote social integration. These new programs will enable residents of the county to access a wider range of social, healthcare, and educational services while fostering stronger local communities.
