From October 1-3, 2024, the first international environmental, waste-water management, and sustainability exhibition titled “ENVIRONTEC powered by ÖKOINDUSTRIA 2024” was held at HUNGEXPO, where approximately eighty exhibitors from eight countries showcased their innovations and technological developments related to the topic. The event was joined by the National Development Center through the presentation of three of its operational programmes.
The exhibition focused on one of the most important questions of the 21st century: how can we maintain our environment at a livable level through the transformation of our society, economy, and industrial activities, and adaptation practices, while serving active economic players interested in slowing down the pace of climate change and enhancing their resilience. The main goal of the event was to provide a platform for building innovative solutions and business relationships in the industry. At the exhibition, international and domestic company leaders, researchers, ministry decision-makers, and investors could meet the latest industry trends and technologies.
Hungary is committed to achieving economic growth while strengthening competitiveness and ensuring sustainability. The goal of the climate and nature conservation action plan of Hungary is to become a climate-neutral country by 2050. For this, numerous good examples and measures are needed, several of which are already being implemented. The development of the circular economy is a top priority, offering a solution that ensures the efficient use of resources, minimises waste, and promotes the utilisation of raw materials instead of a linear economic model. These not only carry environmental but also economic benefits, as they reduce the risks arising from resource scarcity and increase the industry’s resilience to price fluctuations.
At the event, the National Development Center presented the Environmental and Energy Efficiency Plus, the Integrated Transport Development Plus, and the Human Resource Development Plus Operational Programmes, as well as the results achieved in the previous period.
The goal is that thanks to European Union funding, further developments can be realised in our country that contribute to a healthier, cleaner, and more livable environment, the preservation of our natural values, the mitigation of the effects of climate change, and the conservation of biodiversity.
At the event, there were interactive games titled “Switch lanes!” “Be the most ECO-friendly!” which promoted environmental awareness. Visitors had the opportunity to discuss, among other things, energy-saving solutions, the importance of using renewable energy sources, reducing carbon dioxide emissions, ways to reduce environmental damage, reducing water and electricity consumption, and smart, conscious solutions.
At the expo, around 80 exhibitors from Austria, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Croatia, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and Hungary were present, showcasing their activities over nearly 1100 square meters, while also holding several professional conferences and roundtable discussions.
