Rehabilitated urban area in Orosháza

2024. 06. 05.

This project in Orosháza was realized with the support of the European Union, and its goal was to rehabilitate degraded urban areas and to help the population living there to social catch-up. In addition to urban rehabilitation, the project has focused on reducing segregation in the affected part of the city and also promoting the social integration of the disadvantaged population.

The area where the project of the Territorial and Settlement Development Operational Program was carried out, was selected based on the data of the Central Statistical Office (KSH). Based on that data, it was revealed that in that part of the city there are segregated and segregated-risk areas.

There are three separate residential buildings and two separate storage buildings in the Dankó Street segregated area. The three residential buildings contain 10 apartments – more than 420 square meters of living space.

During the development, the buildings underwent a complete energy renovation. Façade thermal insulation was applied to the walls, and adequate quality fiber thermal insulation was applied to the closing slab. The roof structure of the buildings was also renewed, they were given tile roofs and new gutters. In addition, the old doors and windows were replaced with modern plastic doors and windows for more effective thermal insulation.

During the project, running water and sewage system were introduced into the apartments, making them comfortable, while bathrooms and kitchens were also created with the installation of proper building equipment. The floors in all rooms received a new ceramic coating, the walls were renewed inside and out and were also given new paint.

As a result of the project, by improving the living conditions of the population living in those conditions and by strengthening their basic social skills, the segregation exposure of disadvantaged people in Orosháza has reduced, moreover a chance for successful social integration has become available.
