The center of Tiszaföldvár has become safer for transportation

2024. 02. 13.

In the city of Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County, among others, new roundabouts, sidewalks, and bicycle lanes were constructed with the support of the Territorial and Settlement Development Operational Program (TOP). The European Union funded project also promotes the improvement of infrastructure for workforce mobility.

As part of the project, a five-armed roundabout was constructed, along with separated pedestrian and bicycle paths, sidewalks, five pedestrian crossings, ten parking lots, and a bus stop. Additionally, a part of the existing stormwater drainage network at the junction was dismantled, and new drinking water pipelines, new gas pipeline backbone networks, connecting pipelines, as well as steel street lighting columns were installed. The design of the roundabout allows for traffic management without requiring energy consumption, while reducing the speed of passing vehicles and increasing the throughput capacity of the junction, thereby reducing air pollution.

The project titled “Construction of Roundabouts and Transport Facilities in the Center of Tiszaföldvár” has created accident-free and safe transportation conditions, and through awareness-raising programs, it has drawn attention to alternative and environmentally friendly transportation culture, nature conservation, and health preservation among the population.

The development was implemented from EU funding in the project TOP-3.1.1-15-JN1-2016-00006 under the Territorial and Settlement Development Operational Program.
