A professional forum was held on November 27, 2024, in Nyíregyháza, with one of its central topics being the Youth Guarantee Plus, implemented with the support of the Economic Development and Innovation Operational Program Plus.

The operations of strategic importance (OSI) for the 2021-27 programming period aim to provide greater visibility for EU funding by widely showcasing the achieved results to citizens. In the 2021-27 programming period, every operational program has Pillars.

One of the pillars of the Economic Development and Innovation Operational Program Plus is the nationwide “Youth Guarantee Plus.” The program, with a budget of HUF 200 billion, aims to help young people aged 15-30 to find work, gain work experience, or acquire marketable skills.

Nationwide, approximately 200 billion forints are available in the Youth Guarantee program until 2027, with the aim of enabling as many people as possible to find employment in the Hungarian labor market. In terms of economic development and employment, the Northern Hungary region will play a significant role in the coming years, so there will be no shortage of job opportunities, including in Nyíregyháza and Debrecen. In order to find the right workforce, the Youth Guarantee Plus program was launched in April. More than ten thousand young people under the age of 30 are already working in Hungary within the framework of this programme. For those over 30, the number is 11,000.The program started a bit later here, but the number of potential beneficiaries was bigger, so they were able to involve a larger number of people. The vast majority of them are employed in construction, and hospitality and service industry, and in both programs, more than 90 percent of the participants work in micro and small enterprises.

It was mentioned at the forum that through to the Youth Guarantee Plus strategic program which is co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus, the government can use HUF 100 billion of EU support to help unemployed, inactive, non-working, and non-studying young people aged 15-29 with employment, work experience, and marketable skills. The project’s funding amount for Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County is approximately HUF 12.3 billion. More than HUF 78 billion are being allocated for the program targeting those over 30, of which HUF 7 billion will be allocated to the county.
