A city’s safety often rests on developments we rarely think about — and therefore may know little about — yet they fundamentally shape the peace and security of everyday life. One such major investment was the EU-funded project that provided the city of Gyöngyös with a modern new fire station.
The development resulted in a completely new facility, offering faster, more efficient, and higher-level operational capabilities for the region. The former station operated in the downtown area, where traffic conditions and narrow streets frequently slowed emergency departures. From the new location, however, vehicles can exit in three different directions, significantly reducing response times — a difference that can be life-saving in the event of an emergency call.
The new building supports firefighters with state-of-the-art vehicle bays, advanced technical infrastructure, and a thoughtfully designed working environment. Modern furniture and updated IT equipment have also been installed to make daily operations more efficient. The public reception area has been made fully accessible, and comfortable office and rest areas have been created to ensure disaster management personnel can prepare for deployments under proper conditions.
The project represents a tangible step forward for Gyöngyös and the surrounding communities, strengthening residents’ sense of security and enhancing the overall protection of the city.

The program was implemented within the framework of the KEHOP-1.6.0-15-2016-00005 project, with the involvement of European Union funds.
