Workshop on the modernization of public education infrastructure

2025. 03. 20.

Organized by the National Development Center and the Klebelsberg Center, the workshop titled Modernization of Public Education Infrastructure in Primary and Secondary Education was held in Budapest on March 5, 2025.

One of the goals of the Pillars, formally known as Operations of Strategic Importance (OSI) in the 2021-2027 programming period, is to enhance the visibility of EU funding by widely showcasing the achieved results to the public. Within the Territorial and Settlement Development Operational Programme Plus (TSDOP Plus), one of the four designated Pillar thematic areas is Public Education Infrastructure Development, which includes two key measures. The Sustainable Human Infrastructure measure aims to ensure locally available, sustainable, and high-quality public services in cities covered by the Sustainable Urban Development tool, focusing on child welfare services, preschool education, public education, healthcare, and social services. The Development of Public Education Infrastructure measure supports infrastructure developments in both state and non-state public education institutions, addressing real local needs. These developments aim to create efficient educational conditions and a high-quality learning environment that meet modern-day expectations.

The workshop presented experiences from previous public education infrastructure developments, best practices, and the necessary steps for successful project implementation. Professional presentations covered topics such as EU and national education development goals, the call for proposals supporting public education infrastructure development, evaluation and contracting experiences, as well as lessons learned from the 2014-2020 period of public education infrastructure developments.
