Throughout the summer, our news site continues to report on European Union co-financed projects that support the development of communities across Hungary under the Territorial and Settlement Development Operational Programme Plus, known as TSDOP Plus.
Across the country, new investments are beginning or reaching important milestones under the Sustainable Urban Development and Public Education Infrastructure Development Pillars of TSDOP Plus. This round-up presents selected projects by county.
Baranya County: New Momentum on the Danube Bank in Mohács
A major tourism and recreation project has begun on the Danube bank in Mohács, supported by nearly HUF 1.4 billion in funding. The aim is to make the riverside area more attractive for anglers, water sports enthusiasts and visitors interested in river tourism.
The development will include three pontoons capable of accommodating almost 200 small boats at once. Facilities will also be created for lifting boats out of the water and storing them. A new mooring point near the Sokac ferry will serve kayakers and canoeists, while new watercraft will also be purchased as part of the project.
In the long term, the investment is expected to expand leisure opportunities and strengthen Mohács’s tourism and economic potential.
Csongrád-Csanád County: Transport and Nature Conservation Side by Side
In Hódmezővásárhely, preparations have started for the renovation of Oldalkosár Street. With HUF 225 million in support, the road surface will be renewed, stormwater drainage will be upgraded, and an open cycle lane will be built.
Another important project is taking place in Szeged, where a special nature conservation development will be launched in Natura 2000 areas. With TSDOP Plus support, a nest box park will be created near the Tisza-Maros confluence, including 400 bird nest boxes and 90 special nesting sites.
The project aims to increase biodiversity and support the natural ecological balance. A growing population of insect-eating birds and bats may also help reduce mosquitoes in a natural way.
Győr-Moson-Sopron County: A Renewed Park and Modern Educational Spaces
Bisinger Promenade, one of Győr’s most popular public parks, is set for a comprehensive renewal. The HUF 625 million project will modernise green areas, replace paving and street furniture, and rebuild the playground and sports court.
The county’s educational infrastructure is also being improved. The Pannonhalma Saint Benedict Primary School will be expanded and modernised with more than HUF 500 million in funding. As the school has outgrown its current building in recent years, the project will provide new classrooms and upgraded facilities.
The works are expected to be completed during the summer, so pupils can begin the new school year in September in a renewed learning environment.
Tolna County: A More Accessible Institution in Szekszárd
In Szekszárd, the Day Care Institution for People with Disabilities is being upgraded with HUF 125 million in funding. The project includes energy-efficiency improvements and accessibility upgrades.
The main entrance will be renewed, an accessible restroom will be built, modern doors and windows will be installed, and new ramps and pavements will make access easier. The aim is to provide service users with a safer, more modern and more inclusive environment.
Through its Pillars, TSDOP Plus is helping communities across Hungary create more liveable, sustainable and developing local environments.
