Strengthening the industrial area of Kunsziget

2025. 01. 10.

The main objective of the Széchenyi 2020 Programme was to improve the competitiveness of businesses. For this purpose, among others, the call for proposals “Development of Industrial Parks and Industrial Areas” has been launched to stimulate the local economy and increase employment. The municipality of Kunsziget has endeavored to meet the challenge posed by the characteristics of the local economic environment and labor market.

There is a genuine social and economic demand that the improvement of the infrastructural conditions of businesses should not only be possible in large cities, but that funds should also support this activity in smaller or even less developed regions. The supports of the Territorial and Settlement Development Operational Programme have made this possible. An industrial park investment in an economically underdeveloped environment, where there is not enough quality and quantity of labor available, really poses a serious challenge.

In the case of Kunsziget, we are talking about a settlement located in a particularly well-suited, promising entrepreneurial environment, close to the western border and a highway. At the entrance of the village, in a well-kept environment, several companies have already established their production bases, where many commuting employees work alongside the locals every day. Based on the municipality’s survey and experience, there is a demand for the establishment of additional factories, therefore, the land owned by the municipality adjacent to the current industrial areas has also been designated for this purpose in the regulatory plan. To improve the accessibility of the area, roads and public lighting were constructed as part of the project. The completed road will not only facilitate access to the site of the next settling company, but will also improve Kunsziget’s connection with neighboring settlements – Dunaszeg and Dunaszentpál – in the meantime.

The completed road encourages the settlement of new businesses and promotes the strengthening of local economic activity. Considering the location of the settlement, the proximity of the M1 motorway and the county seat, such an investment can not only have a local impact but can also serve the economic strengthening of the region on a regional level and in the long term.

The development was implemented from EU funding in the project TOP-1.1.1-16-GM1-2019-00008 under the Territorial and Settlement Development Operational Programme.
