Modern e-government solutions in government offices

2025. 10. 20.

More and more administrative tasks can now be handled either in person at government offices or online from home. The range of e-government services has expanded, and some are even available through mobile apps.

A consortium led by the Zala County Government Office launched an EU-funded project to make it easier for citizens to complete their administrative tasks in one place, ideally in a single step. The project introduced modern e-government solutions that have reduced processing times across the country, improving satisfaction for citizens, public administration, and businesses.

For example, you can now request a certificate of good conduct at a government office without having to obtain a separate form from the post office. You can also request a copy of your health insurance card or your European Health Insurance Card in person.

The project also produced the Government Window Mobile App, available for smartphones. This app helps users find the nearest office, plan their route, and check the current workload, waiting times, and opening hours of a selected office. Some services can even be accessed directly through the app, saving time and reducing paper use.

Another major development is the Public Administration Knowledge Base System, which provides detailed instructions for all administrative procedures initiated at a citizen’s request. This system is available on Magyarorszag.hu through the Personalized Administration Interface. The database has been updated to reflect changes in regulations and includes new procedures. Citizens can find guidance on tasks such as registering a marriage, enrolling a child in primary school, or accessing social benefits and family support programs.

The project also laid the groundwork for supporting legally required reorganizations of government offices and the strengthening of district offices. It improved tools for administrative staff and developed systems for access management, human resources, performance evaluation, and operational support.

Overall, these e-government improvements have reduced paper-based administration, making administrative processes faster, more efficient, and cost-effective for citizens. They have also made public services simpler, quicker, higher quality, and more consistent.

The development was implemented from EU funding in the project KÖFOP-1.0.0-VEKOP-15-2017-00053 under the Public Administration and Public Service Development Operational Programme.
