Annamária, a single mother raising her six-year-old son in the village of Győrújfalu, is a great example of how the EDIOP Plus-4.1.1-23 Youth Guarantee Plus programme is providing real, practical support for young people by helping them into work through training, wage subsidies, and mobility assistance.
Having previously worked as a shop assistant, Annamária had to step away from her career due to family circumstances. This June, however, her professional life took a new turn when she enrolled in a computer data entry training course offered under the Youth Guarantee Plus programme. Over the course of 120 intensive hours, she mastered skills such as word processing, spreadsheets, and typing. Together with the other participants, she successfully completed the training and earned her certificate.
The Youth Guarantee Plus programme is being implemented nationwide with a total budget of HUF 208 billion, of which Győr-Moson-Sopron County has received HUF 1.434 billion in non-repayable funding. The initiative, which makes a significant contribution to the objectives of the Economic Development and Innovation Operational Programme Plus, focuses on young people aged 15–29 who are not in education and face difficulties entering the labour market without prior experience or marketable skills. Participants receive personalised support: at the start, youth advisors provide counselling and development services to help them build an individual career plan. Later, they may receive various forms of assistance — including wage subsidies, housing and travel allowances, and scholarships during training. Any eligible young person can join the programme by registering at their local employment office.
Support is not limited to young jobseekers: EDIOP Plus-3.1.1 – Expanding and Developing the Labour Supply is also a Pillar programme, targeting jobseekers aged 30–64 with similar forms of assistance. With a national budget of HUF 175.67 billion, Győr-Moson-Sopron County has received HUF 1.228 billion in support. Thanks to projects funded by the European Union, both young and older jobseekers who have been out of the labour market now have the chance to gain new, competitive skills and build a more secure future for themselves in the world of work — just as Annamária is now doing with her freshly acquired knowledge and qualifications.
