A water tour stopover satisfying all needs in Tiszakécske

2023. 11. 14.

A state-of-the-art stopping point in Tiszakécske has been built with the help of EU funds, not only to boost local water sports but also to accommodate visitors in river trips. The project, which was implemented in the 2014-2020 EU financial period, also develops domestic tourism.

Tiszakécske offers a wide range of opportunities for water lovers. The town in Bács-Kiskun county was one of 12 waterfront settlements where water tourism was developed in a complex way thanks to a project of the Hungarian Kayak-Kenu Federation. A modern kitchen, shower and camping facilities and a community space have been built at the stopover point. The high quality stopover location in Tiszakécske is located on the protected side of the dam. Hikers can not only relax and unwind here, but the site is also an excellent starting point for exploring sections of the Tisza River that are home to protected flora and fauna.

The development of stopovers on the river Tisza indirectly increases the number of guest nights in the region. In addition, schools, NGOs and businesses are able to learn about the beauty of water tours, which not only has a community-building impact, but also offers the opportunity to discover the natural and cultural assets of the region.

The project was implemented with EU funding under the GINOP-7.1.2-15-2016-00002 call for proposals.
