Faster diagnosis, easier recovery

2026. 02. 27.

If there’s one thing most of us would rather avoid, it’s visiting the doctor — after all, our health is one of the most important aspects of our lives. But when problems do arise, we all hope that recovery will be as quick, simple, and gentle as possible. This was precisely the goal behind the development of the Karolina Hospital and Outpatient Clinic in Mosonmagyaróvár, where more than 300 new medical devices were acquired for specialist outpatient services.

Thanks to the modern equipment, doctors can now establish diagnoses more quickly and with greater accuracy. The new tools have also made it possible to perform examinations on site that were previously unavailable due to a lack of equipment. This means patients can begin appropriate treatment sooner, travel and waiting times are reduced, and in many cases more serious conditions can be prevented from developing. Early detection made possible by the strengthened outpatient care system means fewer patients require inpatient treatment — a solution that is more comfortable for patients and more cost-effective for the healthcare system.

The EU-funded development affected nearly all specialist departments. Equipment was upgraded in internal medicine, dermatology, surgery, traumatology, ENT, pediatric pulmonology, cardiology, gynecology, orthopedics, rheumatology, ophthalmology, urology, and gastroenterology. In addition, day surgery, radiology, ultrasound diagnostics, and emergency care services were all enhanced with state-of-the-art instruments.

A healthcare project of this scale also has a positive impact on the region’s broader social and economic environment, as faster recovery means fewer sick days and allows patients to return to work sooner.

As a result of the development, local healthcare services have become more modern, safer, and more patient-centered for residents of the region.

The development was implemented from EU funding in the project EFOP-2.2.19-17-2017-00061 under the Human Resource Development Operational Programme.
