Great dining starts in the kitchen

2026. 07. 22.

Enough space, modern equipment, efficient organisation and a skilled team provide the solid foundation every successful restaurant kitchen needs.

There is rarely a quiet moment in a restaurant kitchen. Before a dish reaches the guest’s table, many people have worked together behind the scenes. Anyone who has worked in such an environment knows that good cooking skills alone are not enough. There must also be sufficient space, reliable equipment and a kitchen that can keep up when many orders arrive at the same time. When the right conditions are only partly available, the effects are felt by both the staff and, ultimately, the guests.

This is why an EU-funded development opportunity was so important for PIKANTE-GASZTRO Ltd. The company was able to expand the size and capacity of its kitchen and purchase modern catering equipment, making everyday work easier and more efficient. Doubling the kitchen’s floor area and introducing new equipment made food preparation more organised and cooking processes smoother. As a result, the team can more easily maintain the pace required in a busy restaurant.

Founded as a family business more than 20 years ago, Pikant Restaurant operates near Lake Öreg in Tata. Its menu mainly features traditional Hungarian cuisine, alongside a selection of international dishes. Over the years, the company has also expanded its services to include institutional catering and event organisation.

As part of the project, a nine-kilowatt solar thermal system was installed on the building. This provides the large amount of hot water required at the site while offering an economical solution based on renewable energy.

The company also received marketing consultancy and brand development support and provided training for 25 employees. In a professional kitchen, technical cooking skills are only one part of successful teamwork. Employees must also cooperate effectively, pay attention to one another, respond quickly and communicate clearly.

Guests may only see the finished meal, but whether it reaches the table on time and at the expected quality depends on many small details. The development carried out by PIKANTE-GASZTRO Ltd. strengthened these often invisible yet essential parts of the restaurant’s daily operation.

The development was implemented from EU funding in the project GINOP-PLUSZ-1.2.3-21-2022-04146 under the Economic Development and Innovation Operational Programme Plus.
