In the framework of the EU-funded project a small forest plant and mushroom processing plant has been established in Dencsháza, Baranya County. This initiative created job opportunities for women with low school qualifications living in extreme poverty.
Unskilled and disadvantaged workers have been enabled by the training to leave the public employment status and find a place on the primary labour market. During the project implementation a total of 10 people were successfully ensured work that continued for many years. In 2020, the processing plant won the Family Friendly Workplace Award of the Pécs-Baranya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and in the same year, “Banyaerdő” was selected as one of the 100 best producers in the country. The products produced by the plant have been successfully sold to several wholesale partners in different parts of the country, and the freshly harvested raw materials are sold mainly in farmers’ markets and restaurants, including fine dining restaurants. The establishment of the plant has generated a lot of positive media coverage providing inspiration for similar social enterprises.
