In Europe, more than 1.5 million hand injuries occur in workplaces each year, which is why there is always a high demand for high-quality protective gloves. High-quality products require modern, efficient tools and processes, so when it comes to Glovita Kesztyű Zrt., it was European Union funding that have been made available to the company to develop and to produce even more and better products.
The company located in Győr is a leader in the production of high-quality protective gloves and is one of the largest knitted glove manufacturers in Europe. 25% of the products are sold in Hungary, while 75% are sold in Western European markets. The company, founded in 1929, initially focused on hosiery production, and from the 1970s, it also began manufacturing gloves using Japanese automatic knitting machines. However, later on, with the emergence of shopping centers and the influence of the Far Eastern market, the production of fashion gloves at the company started to decline and then stopped, shifting the focus entirely to the manufacturing of work and protective gloves.
The production process is highly automated. Capacity expansion investments were made possible by the Economic Development and Innovation Operational Programme, including the purchase of eight modern, next-generation Japanese SHIMA SEIKI glove knitting machines. Due to this, the technical yarns which are more difficult to process was simplified. As a result, production is now carried out on 300 machines, facilitating more efficient and intensive production.
In addition, the company has expanded its set of equipment with a VIDEOJET inkjet labeling machine, which is high-performance, cost-effective, and equipped with the latest electronic control technology. The menu system is easy to navigate on the graphic display, allowing the printed text on the gloves to be simply changed, and it remains legible even after washing. Another special feature is that the company also produces gloves made from recycled PET bottles as an environmentally friendly solution.
Through capacity expansion, the company is able to produce more than six million pairs of protective gloves annually, which is a remarkable achievement even by European standards. There is indeed a need for the vast quantity, as professionals work in many fields from the mechanical industry to material handling, as well as in the automotive, food, construction, agriculture, metalworking, and healthcare sectors while wearing protective gloves.
Thanks to the investment, GLOVITA Kesztyű Zrt. has increased its capacity and set of equipment, improved the company’s production and quantity indicators, and further strengthened its role in both the domestic and foreign markets.
The development was implemented from EU funding in the project GINOP-1.2.3-8-3-4-16-2017-00432 under the Economic Development and Innovation Operational Programme.
