Support for young people entering the labor market continues to gain momentum in Hungary. The Youth Guarantee Plus program is designed to ensure that young people aged 15–29 who are not in education, employment, or training spend as little time as possible unemployed or inactive. Through personalized support, the initiative helps them improve their chances of finding stable, long-term employment. Since February 2026, the program has been expanded with new elements, which are now also available in Pécs.
As one of the key pillars of the Economic Development and Innovation Operational Programme Plus, the Youth Guarantee Plus project has a total national budget of over HUF 102 billion. Since 2025, it has already supported the participation of more than 25,300 unemployed young people, making a significant contribution to the program’s goal of increasing employment.
On March 2, 2026, the Baranya County Government Office held a professional conference in Pécs to review the project’s progress. Thanks to the HUF 4.664 billion in non-repayable EU funding available in the county, nearly 1,800 young people have already received support in their job search. In addition to highlighting these results, the conference also focused on improving opportunities for young people in the agricultural sector.
The program already offers a wide range of support measures, including wage subsidies, mobility support, training-related allowances that encourage job seeking, and financial assistance available during employment support services—all designed to help young people enter the workforce.
From February this year, the program has been further expanded with new pilot elements. Supported by the World Bank, this initiative aims to strengthen the impact of existing tools—such as wage subsidies, mobility grants, and training support. Its goal is not only to help young people find jobs, but also to support their integration into the workplace and help them maintain employment over the longer term.
