A new community space has opened on Barátság Street in Szekszárd. True to its name, Generations Park is designed as a welcoming place where people of all ages can meet, relax, and enjoy shared experiences. It offers space for play, exercise, rest, community activities, and meaningful leisure time.
This EU-funded development — which could also be described as an ultra-modern 21st-century playground — welcomes visitors with more than 3,300 square metres of outdoor community space and a 250-square-metre covered area. During the planning and construction of the park, special attention was paid to creating an environment that is open, inviting, and enjoyable for every age group. Families with young children, teenagers, active adults, and older residents can all find activities and facilities suited to their needs.
The open-air areas of Generations Park encourage movement, play, and time spent outdoors. Visitors can enjoy a traffic education track, a large tower with slides, smaller slides, swings, a trampoline, a sandpit, role-play equipment, an interactive play element, play walls, outdoor fitness equipment, and a specially designed barefoot walking path. Together, these features offer a varied and exciting experience for children and adults alike. The park also includes rain-protected covered benches, a sheltered play area, a creative activity space, restrooms, and a baby-and-mother room.
Szekszárd’s long-term vision focuses on creating a well-kept, developing city that preserves its values while remaining open, lively, and welcoming. Generations Park supports this vision by giving the city a modern community space that encourages active recreation, strengthens local identity, and brings people together.
The development was implemented from EU funding in the project TOP-7.1.1-16-H-ERFA-2019-00106 under the Territorial and Settlement Development Operational Programme.
